Terms of service
Effective date: 11 July 2026 · These terms are an agreement between you and MØXN Africa (“OweMe”, “we”, “us”).
Thanks for using OweMe. These terms keep things fair for you, your customers, and us. By creating an account or using the app or this website, you agree to them. If you use OweMe for a business, you confirm you're authorised to accept these terms for that business.
1. What OweMe is
OweMe is a debt-recovery tool for businesses: you record the credit you extend, OweMe helps you follow up with polite reminders, pay links, receipts and reports. OweMe is a record-keeping and communication tool. The debts belong to you and your customers; we are not a party to them, we don't buy debts, and we are not a collection agency or a bank.
2. Your account
- You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. Keep your phone secure, because anyone with your unlocked phone and number can access your account.
- You must be 18 or older and using OweMe for business purposes.
- Staff seats: if you invite staff, you're responsible for what they do in your account within the roles you give them.
3. Plans, billing and top-ups
- Paid plans and top-up bundles (messages, AI credits) are purchased through the app store on your device (Google Play or the App Store), which handles payment and renewal. Manage or cancel there anytime; cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current period except where the store's policies say otherwise.
- Monthly allowances (automatic reminder sends, AI credits) reset each billing month and don't roll over. Unused bundle credits remain until used.
- We may change prices or plan contents going forward; we'll give you notice in the app before changes affect you. Core debt recording is never paywalled.
4. Reminders: the golden rule
Reminders exist to recover genuine debtswhile preserving relationships. You agree to use them only for money actually owed to you, and never to harass, threaten, shame or spam anyone. We may suspend accounts that abuse messaging. You're responsible for having your customers' correct contact details and a lawful basis to contact them; if a customer asks you to stop contacting them, honour it.
5. Pay links and payouts
- Pay-link payments are processed by Paystack. Money settles to the bank account you register. We never hold your funds.
- Payment processing is subject to Paystack's terms and verification requirements. Transaction fees are deducted from the payment as disclosed at the time.
- A dispute between you and your customer about the underlying debt is between the two of you, but we'll provide records you need (receipts, payment history) to resolve it.
6. Your content and data
Your business records belong to you. You give us permission to store, process and transmit them only as needed to run the service (see the privacy policy). You're responsible for the accuracy of what you record. OweMe faithfully tracks what you enter; it can't know whether a debt is real.
7. AI features
Voice entry, insights and risk hints are assistive. They can be wrong, so always confirm what was captured (the app shows you before saving) and treat insights as suggestions, not financial advice. AI features consume plan credits and may be unavailable offline.
8. Offline use and availability
OweMe is offline-first: core features work without network and sync later. We work hard to keep the service available but don't promise uninterrupted operation: networks fail, providers have outages, maintenance happens. Keep your app updated for the best experience.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use OweMe for anything unlawful, including recording fictitious debts;
- harass or defraud anyone through the service;
- attempt to break, probe or overload our systems;
- resell or white-label the service without a written agreement;
- reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it.
10. Intellectual property
The app, this site, the OweMe name, logo and design are ours. We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the app for your business while these terms apply. Your data stays yours.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: OweMe is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect losses (lost profits, lost business), for debts that go unrecovered, or for the actions of your customers. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.
12. Ending things
You can stop using OweMe and delete your account anytime in the app. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms; where reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a way to export your records. Sections that by nature survive (your data rights, liability limits, disputes) survive termination.
13. Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use OweMe after that means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Let's talk first: support@oweme.app resolves most things quickly. Otherwise, disputes go to the courts of Nigeria.
